Our Story

Miller Farms became a nursery in 1963 when brothers Don and Dick Miller received their first nursery business license. Prior to then it was the Miller Farm, an 80-acre family farm which they worked on with their parents Herb and Evelyn.

Miller Farms HistoryThe original Miller Farm had acres of planted potatoes, raised 12,000 chickens a year and had 150 head of dairy cows. The potatoes and chickens were phased out in the late 1970’s and in the 1980’s the Miller’s stopped milking cows.

“We built our house in 1957 and bought shrubs for landscaping from our potato seed grower in Oregon.” Explains Dick Miller. “We sold the leftover shrubs at the small nursery which we operated on the farm. When those were sold, we bought more and soon we had a variety of plants for sale in our nursery. A friend, George Barry, needed a lawn mower so we bought six and then we were in the lawn mower business. That’s basically how our business developed.” As the times change the business has evolved with it. Since then Miller Farms has a flourishing nursery, one of the largest power equipment dealers in Northern California and a highly qualified landscape department with over 100 years of combined experience.

One thing that hasn’t changed is that Miller Farms Nursery is still a family business with three generations of the Miller family working in various aspects of the business. The Miller’s started the nursery business with one employee and have since gown to thirty five plus employees with three divisions: Nursery, Powershop, and Landscape.
